'Tree Swing'
Yet again, I had no idea how this would turn out but wanted to do something BIG. So I decided to lay out three sheets of watercolor paper after soaking them. I figured what's the worse that can happen? Apparently nothing too bad because I really like this picture. Of course I can think of many things now that I would have done differently, but that is how we learn. By trying!
Crazy Sky Effect
I didn't get pictures of how I did everything so I will tell you. I began with sweeping a great yellow across the 'sky' and blobbed in some blue when the yellow set. I then shook some clear water with my brush onto the page for the 'watered blotches' look. I told you I had no idea what I was doing! I rather like the outcome..
It could be a lake.
I really couldn't tell you but I cut the 'ground' off from the end of the sheet. I didn't want the 'grass' to go all of the way down the paper. When the paintings are side by side, it gives the effect of water.
Either Way, it wasn't a complete disaster.
I learned a lot about how color moves and mingles when it is varying degrees of wet. A big project like this can do that to you. Different from the 'Ruby' watercolor, this layout gave me a lot of room for free flowing trial and error. As all art should be! Be brave and try whatever you think will work for you. That is how you become good at whatever you do!
