For REAL People who just want to Watercolor!
I'm so glad you made it!
Watercolor for Newbies is my newest site! I put together all of my favorite watercolors here for my friends and family to view.
Let me tell you a little about my watercoloring experiences. I have always drawn. I love drawing and still do but decided it was time to try a new medium. I have always been fascinated with watercolors and acrylic paintings. While I am no professional, only beginning watercoloring in 2009, I found that I couldn't choose just one style of watercoloring as there appears to be SO many! I learned how to soak watercolor paper and what paints to use from the internet but found that so many artists use varying techniques to accomplish their works, which also varied! I decided to learn what I could and just TRY for pete's sake after a lot of researching. My techniques are very original- I incorporate what I feel is helpful about acrylics and just go with the flow with my watercolors. Realize that watercoloring is hard! You are truly at the mercy of the elements here. Getting a feel for when the paper is right for what you plan to lay down on it is an art in itself. That isn't stopping me, however. I mix my palette to match what I want to see on my paper. Some watercolorists may say this is not how to watercolor! I agree- but the finished work tells me that what I am doing so far WORKS! I'm Cass Fisher and I am new to watercoloring. Each time I set out to create a piece of work, I learn something new. I hate to say it but you really can't learn to watercolor from a book or from the internet either! You have to just DO IT! Like riding a bike, you learn how to steer, brake and stay up straight when you practice. Watercoloring is no different. YOU can watercolor too! If you are ready to be challenged and to let your imagination out, you can accomplish great things on paper! I do have to admit that a lot of research helped me prepare to watercolor. Basics like paper, how to soak your paper, brushes to choose, etc., all gave me the confidence to begin watercoloring! |
Ocean before the waves.. still a nice matte wet.
